What is interdental cleaning?
Regular tooth brushing only cleans the inside, outside and biting surfaces of the tooth, but we often forget to clean between the teeth where bacteria can multiply if left, this stage is called interdental cleaning.
There are many different interdental cleaning devices, such as floss, dental picks, and interdental brushes.
What product should I be using?
This is dependent on your individual needs and preference as each tooth gap is different for each person and there are different sized products to suit all and you may find you need a variety of sizes to clean effectively.
We advise maintaining regular dental examinations and hygiene visits where this can be discussed with your clinician.
When you first start cleaning between your teeth, your gums may feel a bit sore and may even bleed, do not stop. Bleeding gums are often a sign of gum inflammation. If you do not notice an improvement within a few days, contact us at Williams Dental Care.
